Practical life skills

Hair Dressing and bakery practical life skills are some of the Christmas packages the vulnerable children in Nakifuma Naggalama community have gained ever since schools were put on a lock down due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

On 1st/ October/ 2020, the Lord spoke to one of Christ our Vision’s partnering organization in the Christian network (Children At Risk Action Network) about initiating a youth/ Children skilling project to impact vulnerable Children with learning of hair dressing and bakery as the government of Uganda was not certain on when school will be reopened yet children were exposed to so many risks such as early pregnancies, Child  labor, redundancy,  forced marriages, sexual immorality among others.

In Total 40 children (20 girls and 20 boys) were given an opportunity to acquire practical life skilling in bakery and Hair dressing from October to December 2020 at free cost since CRANE sponsored the project

At the end of the project on 18th/ December/ 2020 all the 40 children were able to bake wedding cakes, cookies, daddies, scorn, bread, daddies and mandazi for bakery skill. Also for hair dressing 40 children were able to do different African hair styles like braids, pencil, twist, weaves, dye, retouch and treatment. They were also able to do facial scrub, massage and all haircuts.

The Children acquired these skills for sustainability, self reliance and to some of the girls in this project who dreamt to be hair dressers achieved their future career.

Christ our Vision is grateful for the opportunity granted by CRANE (Children At Risk Action Network) which has impacted the vulnerable children in our communities and the Almighty God bless you.
