VOLUNTEERING WITH A CHRISTIAN CHILDREN’S CHARITY

 

WHO IS A VOLUNTEER?

A volunteer is a person who commits his time, resources and energy for the good of the organization and community.

Many volunteers take risks of traveling to Africa to offers free services to Uganda Christian charities especially with those that support orphans and vulnerable children.

THE MAIN REASON WHY PEOPLE VOLUNTEER?

The main motive of Volunteering with Orphans and Vulnerable children is to help and it makes a positive impact on the lives of children especially when a certain project has been worked on.

 
OTHER REASONS WHY PEOPLE CHOOSE TO VOLUNTEER;

1.Besides creating a positive impact, Volunteering is rewarding for children and communities helped.

2.Some volunteers subscribe childcare programs because it is a way of testing out a particular career route so as to gain experience of finally decide whether they are comfortable working with children and some have turned out as Childcare professionals and successful teachers.

3. people learn the depth of other new cultures especially when they live and work with local staff within the same community for they are treated like family members. In case there is a party, chances are that you will be given an invitation.

 
CAROLYN AND  VICTOR VOLUNTEERED WITH US!

 

Carolyn and Victor have regularly travelled from Australia to Kalagi, Mukono -Uganda with a purpose of impacting lives of Children under the support of Christ our Vision Child care international as well as supporting our empowering our poor communities.

Carolyn and Victor have been travelling by air and we have been picking them from Entebbe international airport but for this trip, they shipped their car and they came through Mombasa, Kenya to Uganda. In Uganda they purposely came to spend two weeks with Christ our Vision ministries and the community.

It was very exciting to receive them early morning on 11th May,2023 arrive at Christ our vision premises with their car loaded with lots of gifts from Australia to the vulnerable children.

These included two bicycles, shoes, clothes, a desktop computer, and soccer    boots both for the vulnerable children and for Kalagi United football Club.

This time around Victor and Carolyn were able to have exposure in communities due to the well planned itineraries by Esther Mirembe our Resident director and organisation administrator. 

This lovely couple carried over 30 pairs of brand new soccer boots for a community football club  called Kalagi United F.C which Ms. ESTHER MIREMBE one of the directors of Christ our Vision Child care is a vice chairperson.

The captain of Kalagi football club was very excited to receive this package before the players for they had a match on the actual day but they did not have soccer boots to use on the match.

The donation of soccer boots motivated players to work hard and they won a final match against Katoogo F.C enabling Kalagi United F.C graduate to third division.

 
activities done by victor and carolyn were;

 

  • Donating funds towards a permanent construction block for Father’s Children Nursery and Primary  permanent school.
  • Accompanying Kalagi united Football club to Katoogo village for a final match with Katoogo Football club
  • Weeding maize which was planted on a hired piece of land to  reduce costs of buying food for the vulnerable children.
  • Making concrete products from Servant’s Ark contractors an associate to Christ our Vision where the youths are imparted with a livelihood skill.
  • Visited a group of single and elderly women who earn an income from making craft, weaving and sewing to sustain their families with essential needs where they empowered this group by purchasing a woven mat and a shawl.
  • This couple donated reading glasses to 10 (ten) elderly women who had issues with sight.
  • Carolyn and Victor drove one of their sponsored students Lawrence back to term two school opening at St. Michael international secondary school which they oriented and liked due to its conducive environment and ample space.
  • Hon. Esther Mirembe, the deputy Mayor of Nakifuma Naggalama Town council and the Secretary for education invited Carolyn and Victor to sit in council sessions so as they could get exposed on how local councils are conducted.

In the second week, the Mayor and Vice mayor and C.E.O of www.safariintoafrica.com  a tour and travel company whose some of  the proceedings go directly to support activities of Christ our Vision Childcare guided the couple  to tour Nakifuma-Naggalama Town council. 

  • Adventured the two big rocks with no graffiti located in Nakifuma Naggalama Town council that are; Namamonde and Kyeyitabya which were so beautiful to see and climb.
  • They also carried out a cultural tour in the town council which they enjoyed so much.

On their last day with Christ our Vision Childcare, the children sang appreciation and farewell songs, gave testimonies and prayed for journey mercies back to Australia.

According Victor and Carolyn, volunteering and supporting vulnerable children is the best rewarding as it creates happiness to the beneficiaries.
